I remember the club well. I think it was on Wilford Cres near Holgate rd junction.
Have very fond memories of Sante fe.

Kind regards

Tony.

The original post had me scratching me 'ed, Bunbury St.?

It did remind me of the yard and wooden? steps on Wilford Cres.

Confirmed by Tony.

I was too young to go there, Was it a bit 'Wheel Tappers & Shunters' ?

Mick,

You are quite right. The club was up some old wooden steps. I only went there the once. I think it tried to compete with sante Fe but didn't last too long.
I'm sure it opened in 1964 and closed later that year.I woder how long Sante Fe lasted?

Kind regards,

Tony

As far as I can remember Sante Fe opened in 1962.Originally it was open on a Sunday night following Evensong. The vicar Mr Whalley wanted to attract more young people to the evening service. I recall as a young man of 13 years the church being quite packed out with older teenagers. This met with some disaproval with the older congregation so it was aborted.

I finished going around 1966.

Kind regards

Tony.

I remember the Carousal. It tried to rival the Santa Fe. Before that it was a "club" hosted by Amber Vandela - anyone remember her ?

Ahh BABELFISH says

These pages contain material for adults, photographies in which look at human beings to combine themselves sexually. Anyone continues in the vision is totally aware of that it will go to see and is perfectly consenziente. I have at least 18 years, alive in a country where he is not illegal to visionare images of explicit sex, and choose in full freedom to watch this material.

Within, they are maggiorenne OR I exit, are under-age

Now I see it?

Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind but be careful that's not always the case.

It also opened under the rather grand title of "The Play Girl Pussy Club" as I recall. I lived on Mundella Road and of course I was far too young to venture to the establishment as it was a "striptease club"

same place as the carousel club on Wilford Crescent just up the road from the Paper shop on the opposite side of the road.
Incidently Terry Hefford also lived just a few doors from it and he was also a Scout Master as I recall.

Terry Hefford, I believe, was an ellectrician and DJ at the Santa Fe' around 1968.

I could do with getting a list of tracks he played there around that time.
